From March 2020 to July 2021 the activities of the choir were curtailed by government restrictions arising from the Coronavirus pandemic. This led to the cancelling of four planned concerts along with a Singing Day which had been organised with Brian Kay.
During this period (and thanks to the unstinting efforts of our Music Director, Robyn Sevastos and Accompanist, Tracey Renwick) the choir continued to sing in isolation via Zoom. This was a new experience for all of us and no real substitute for singing in person. However it served the valuable purpose of keeping our membership together and focused on singing a range of music that exploited the technology, but which we would probably otherwise not have encountered. In the days of “Lockdown” these weekly sessions provided much-looked-forward-to events in otherwise empty social calendars and helped us navigate an otherwise dark period.
Thankfully the choir endured this awful period without losing members or loved ones to this terrible disease.
