Overview
Sevenoaks Philharmonic celebrates its return to live singing post-Covid with a performance of the utterly joyful Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi accompanied by a selection of seasonal highlights from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. We hope to raise the roof of St Nicholas Church with the former whilst sending you home imbued with the spirit of Christmas.
Robyn Sevastos conducts the choir along with professional soloists and orchestra.
The Choir is grateful that we survived the pandemic without losing any members to the virus. However, in the 18 months when we were unable to sing together in person unfortunately we did lose three members – David Evans, John Eastwood and Daloni Carlisle and were prevented from saying our normal farewells. We therefore dedicate this concert to these former members as a celebration of their lives and contributions to the choir.
In similar vein we invite everyone at the concert to use the music to focus their own thoughts on celebrating the lives of any loved-ones they may have lost since our last concert.
Whilst no longer mandated, we will take additional precautions towards the safety of everyone attending this event. Sanitisers and anti-bacterial sprays and wipes will be available and audience capacity has been restricted to 80% to allow those who wish to keep a spare seat between their party and other audience members. To avoid the usual crush in the Undercroft there will be no interval drinks, though there will be a break between the two halves of the concert.
We hope you will come and join us for what will be a joyful celebration of our return to singing some of the great works of the choral repertoire.
Unnumbered/Unreserved Seats.
