Overview
Sevenoaks Philharmonic Choir is proud to perform this most celebrated work re-telling the life of Christ – one of choral music’s eternal masterpieces and a truly British start to the Christmas Season!
Handel composed Messiah in 1741 with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens. It was first performed in April 1741 in Dublin : so popular was this performance that gentlemen were asked not to wear swords and women to leave their skirt-hoops at home – advice that we repeat for our performance in St Nicholas Church.
Sevenoaks Philharmonic Choir observes the English tradition and invites the audience to stand for the Hallelujah Chorus.
Unnumbered/Unreserved Seats. Interval drinks will be available in the undercroft.
